gDirectLinks Safari Extension prevents the links in Google search results from being replaced by indirect links, which Google uses for click tracking, when you click them. With this extension installed, when you click a Google search result, Safari goes straight to the destination. It works on Google Instant results as well as the conventional ones.
Benefits include:
- Ensuring that true URLs, and not Google's indrect ones, are recorded in Safari's History menu.
- Making it easier to copy true URLs from Google search results.
- Blocking one method Google uses to track which search results you click. (It may or may not be the only method.)
Optionally, the extension will also rewrite the links in Google image search results so that clicking a thumbnail will open the linked image directly.
LinkThing users, please note: This extension provides a subset of the functionality of LinkThing. Don't install this if you use LinkThing.
